Why did you write this book?
I wrote this book to begin a dialog among evangelical Christians and
dispensational Christians. Evangelicals in large part have down-played prophecy
and endtime issues and therefore have not been part of a necessary dialog.
Dispensational Christians have been ever watchful for the return of Jesus, but
some of their endtime scenario does not agree with careful interpretation of the
Scripture. I hope this book will provide fuel for serious study of endtime
prophecy and dialog among these two camps and other Christians as well.
What are the main points of the book?
The main point is that even though we don't know the date of Jesus return, he
specifies the day in Mark 13 and Matthew 24. This day is prophesied in the Old
Testament as the Day of the Lord and in Revelation 6 as the Day of the Lord's
Wrath. A second point is to assure believers of the reality of the rapture of
the saints on that day. A third point is that this material has practical
applications for the life of the Christian here and now.
What are your qualifications to write this book?
Aside from my educational credentials, I am a student and scholar of the Bible.
I believe the Bible is God's Word for us today, including and especially the
prophetic material. This book is the result of several years of study and
prayer. In addition, I have published two other books, one that examines the
message of the whole Bible and the other which examines the life of Jesus.
